Sports injuries are generally injuries that occur during sporting activities. Conditions that are not surgical and require surgery may occur.
2-What are the causes of sports injuries?
We can categorize the causes of sports injuries into two groups. These are personal and environmental reasons.
Personal reasons: Physical deficiencies, physical fitness (aerobic endurance, strength, speed, skill, agility), psychological factors (concentration, acceptance of risk), physical structure (height, weight, joint stability, body fat tissue, age, gender).
Environmental reasons: Type of sport, duration of sporting activity, role of the opponent and teammates, ground where the activity is performed, light, materials, climatic conditions (heat, humidity, wind, coach, match management), rules and referees’ application of the rules.
3-What is the severity of sports injury?
In order to understand the importance of a sports injury, it is necessary to evaluate it very well. The type of injury, the type and duration of treatment, and the time away from sports directly affect the return to sports process. The seriousness of a sports injury can be understood by considering and evaluating these facts one by one.
4-What are the general rules for preventing sports injuries?
First of all, the first thing that needs to be done is the periodic health checks of the athletes. With these checks, the current status of the athlete is revealed at the beginning of the season. Deficiencies are determined and necessary measures are taken to eliminate those deficiencies within the framework of the doctor’s recommendation. The deficiencies identified at this point are deficiencies related to physiological parameters, physical fitness and direct health.
One of the most important factors in the occurrence of sports injuries is inadequate warm-up. For this reason, great importance should be given to warming up, especially stretching exercises.
Here, cooling down after physical activity is also important. It is also important to cool down after every activity. Cooling exercises should be done after every activity.
